THE LAST CALLER

"Lets go!.........let's go!.......let's go! , dispatch this is RT4-NINE, requesting backup on a possible code three(3) pursuit on the milky haven highway asap"..."RT4-NINE this is dispatch, backup is already on route".
The night was dark and chilly like every other winter night, the shrill cry of numerous police cars cut through the night like the swift swipe of an ATM card on a POS machine. The town of Riverdale, normally quite and peacefull on most nights is one of the top tourist destination, boasting of the country's highest natural waterfall and a natural hotspring, most of the inhabitants were mainly the locals who were majorly fishermen but had some few brave one's who ventured into Hotel and recreation, on the other hand the other side of the population were tourists who were resident in the numerous hotels that dotted the landscape of Riverdale. The people of Riverdale are naturally peacefull people , but like every other town it had its own share of bad eggs.
Sheriff Jason Duke, was unarguably the most popular man in the whole of Riverdale, "Sheriff" as he was popularly called, practically spent his whole life in Riverdale ,his father was the Sheriff before him, so it was just a natural phenomenom for him to be the next sheriff.
"Sheriff we've blocked the three exits leading out of the highway, there is no way for him to escape", "good job liteunate" he answered with a tint of authority, he always considered himself a role model to others.
Two police cars were already gaining on him, so he increased his speed "pull over or we will be forced to use extreme measures to stop you" came the a voice from one of the cars, but he knew he couldn't stop or reduce his speed for reason, the strange caller had made it clear that if he slowed down or stopped for any reason he will be blown to bits, the only option he gave him was to keep moving without slowing down. The only thing on his mind was the picture of janet and what might be going through her mind after he called her.
Whether it was the the numerous lights emanating from the various police cars or the fact that he was driving at breakneck speed or the fact that he was thinking about janet that he did not see the road block ahead of him, but like every other driver he instictivly stepped on the breaks.
